I wrote here because we don't know how to join Google talk dev...

This style specification was originaly made by Adium team, and extented by Kopete/KDE team (i'm part of it), in collaboration with Adium, to keep it compatible. Our work is for the upcomming 0.12 Kopete, and with Adium, we'd like to get a sort of standart (like Atom, RSS...) between windows, linux and OSX for IM users .

Now, we are happy to see that Googletalk could join with us, especially if we'll work together in the futur. We think it's possible after google work about Jingle.

Could we talk about that? Could you join us?

Kopete & Adium team are trying to join them, which is not easy

Just to chime in here (I'm an Adium developer); Currently Adium, Skype for OSX, Kopete 0.12, and Google Talk use the same theme format (although GTalk uses MSHTML instead of WebKit, which is troublesome for compatibility but understandable). Unfortunately, the only specification for said format is the Adium code itself, and there's no established method for planning and implementing additions to the format. We'll be working (hopefully with Google and Skype) to get some sort of wiki or mailing list up for discussion of the format + future planning. Kopete and the upcoming Adium 1.0 already have additions to the format, so I'm hoping to get the ball rolling on this pretty soon. We'll be contacting Google and Skype directly as well as posting here and discussing this on IRC.


Another thing that might be worth looking into is load sharing for adiumxtras.com. We already use a ton of (donated ) bandwidth, and an influx of google talk and kopete users is probably not going to help that.
