Google Talk 1.0.0.95 Testing Released! ( Posted on 2006/07/28 - 7:07 am by mEo )
A new testing version of Google Talk is now available to download (version 1.0.0.95)!!

File Transfer

Google Talk now has file transfer! Your friend will also need to have 1.0.0.95, but currently it does not look like you need any ports to be opened, making it a very handy and extremly useful feature to have :)
Quote:A small percentage of users (such as those behind restrictive
proxies) will not experience the highest level of file transfer speed
possible.
Update 1: Certain images are displayed in the chat window, as opposed to the icon of that file type.
Update 2 (vikke): Drag and drop a file into the chat will send it automatically!
Images will be saved in: C:\Documents and Settings\Viktor\My documents\My Pictures\Google Talk Received Images
and other files will be saved in: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My documents\Google Talk Received Files

Music Status

Similar to Microsoft's 'What I am listening to', Google Talk can now display what you are listening to in your status! Both Winamp and Windows Media Player (even 11) and ITunes (may freeze Google Talk) are supported, please let us know if there are anymore.

Voice Messages

Now you can leave Voicemessages for people! To use, simply click the 'Send Voicemail' button, and after the 'MEEP' (quite literally) talk!
Update: There is also a little phone icon in the main window, next to emails, that says how many voicemessages you have. (Thanks origino)

New 'Contact Card' Look

Friends' contact cards now have a new improved look, with more functionality and ease of use.

'Talking To' in Contact List'

Contact who you currently have a chat window open with are displayed as the blank Google Talk 'bubble' chat icon.
Contacts who have said a message, that you have not yet seen, are displayed as the Google Talk chat 'bubble' with text inside.

View Past Chats

Viewing past chat logs is now also easier, just click 'View Past Chats' in the drop down menu in chat windows.

Privacy Policy

In the 'About...' window, there is a link to Google Talk's Privacy Policy.

Updated Version in Resource

Not really a new feature, but until now, Google Talk still said '2005' when viewing 'Version Info' in Resouce Hacker. Good to see the team have fixed that up ;)

Note: For those who still want emoticons, the smileys themes for Google Talk should still work. Extended Talk also works, although there is an alignment problem (now that there is the new buttons) and Active Status conflicts with music status.

Developer Info (By vikke):
Contacts Card (AKA HoverCards) are now displayed using IE.

There's now a DLL in the Google Talk directory called "gtalkwmp1.dll", could be the Winamp current playing, it has no funny exports SORRY!.

Google Talk API has updated with some new cool API types and declarations!!!

Edit by Wumpus

Update 2 (mEo): The official Google Talk Blog has a new article about the testing version. We can expect tbe public version that includes file transfer in the upcomming weeks for the US version. There is no time comment on the other 13 language versions Google Talk has been translated to, only that the team is working hard on getting the new features in ;)

CTRL+C now works correctly
